The Department of English is reputed for excellence in teaching courses in English language and literature at the undergraduate and post graduate level. Since its inception, English has been a first choice as a special subject for students from cross section of the society. The undergraduate and courses are an eclectic blend of language and literature. While students gain mastery over language skills and become proficient in English, they also learn to appreciate and critically analyze literary works. In addition to the formal classroom teaching, students are given opportunities to participate in a host of extracurricular and extension activities related to language and literature with an objective to make them individuals who can appreciate art as well as nurture universal values such as love, compassion, brotherhood. In order to develop the spirit of research among students as well as teachers, various research oriented activities are organized throughout the year. A lot of emphasis is laid on enhancing employability skills relevant in the contemporary times. The vision of the department is realized with the help of well qualified and dedicated teachers and excellent infrastructure.
